Georgetown University Medical Centre in US conducted a study on 76,000 American women. Study completed with outcome that sips of tea makes human body vulnerable to rheumatoid arthritis.Morning competitor of tea, coffee, showed no such tendency. The research paper was presented at Annual Congress of the European League Against Rheumatism in Rome.
Study revealed ,women drinking 4+ cups of tea a day are found to be 78% more close to developing rheumatoid arthritis as compared to those who drink no cup a day.Averaging, those women who drink tea (any number of cups, one to can't say) are 40% more tending to develop rheumatoid arthritis than who don't drink.
Professor Christopher Collins, lead of the study, said, " It is surprising that we saw such differences in results between tea and coffee drinkers. This does make us wonder what it is in tea, or in the method of preparation of tea that causes the significant increase in risk of developing rheumatoid arthritis.” .
In another presentation at Annual Congress of the European League Against Rheumatism, researchers from Netherland's Leiden University showed increased alcohol intake effectively reduces risk of rheumatoid and other forms of arthtitis.
This study was done on 997 patients with rheumatoid arthritis, reactive arthritis, spondyloarthropathy, or psoriatic arthritis and they were compared to 6874 fit individuals. The outcome of the this research is :
* 73% less likely to develop rheumatoid arthritis
* 69% less likely to develop osteoarthritis
* 66% less likely to develop spondyloarthropathy
* 62% less likely to develop psoriatic arthritis
* 73% less likely to develop reactive arthritis
* Though dutch research says alcohol has potential to reduce vulnerability, still doctors don't advice to take alcohol. Its no doubt harmful for body in thousands of other way. Doctors involved in research also suggested that at this point, their research is not in condition to suggest people should consume alcohol as precautionary measure from arthritis.
